Metadata Management

The CentricMinds Enterprise Web Content Management System (WCMS) provides a powerful and extensive Metadata Management environment. The CMS enables non-technical business authors to develop metadata templates (Metaplates) that can be associated to all content resources managed within the CMS. The Metadata Management environment consists of dedicated repositories for Element and Element Scheme definition, Thesauri definition and the development of Content Types for the design of structured authoring templates.

Within the Metaplate Repository, authors can define individual elements, build multiple controlled-term thesauri and create Metaplates for use by authors publishing documents and content. This ensures that consistent and accurate data is maintained across the entire repository. A number of content automation processes can be achieved through the configuration of Metaplates and Centric Controls. These include:

Dynamic Content Listings
Authors can setup content listing displays that dynamically present web content and documents based on Date Published, by Author, by Role, and by specific Metadata Category, etc.).

Content Aggregation
Authors can display dynamic pages of content that are associated to a specific metadata elements, e.g. ‘display all PDF files related to China’, but only display MS PowerPoint files that are related to ‘China & Shanghai’ specifically).

Category Browsing
Enable authors to browse content via a graphical presentation of metadata taxonomies.

Content Personalization
Enable Administrators to build personalized workspaces that present content based on the security of the user, and the metadata of dynamic content listings.

Metadata Management includes:

• Metadata Creation
  Build Metaplates based on pre-defined metadata elements and controlled-term thesauri.
• Element Creation
  Define metadata elements based on standards such as Dublin Core, AGLS, DoD, etc. Select whether the element type is related to a pre-defined Thesaurus or an alternative type such as X500, ISBN, etc.
• Thesaurus Creation
  Build controlled-term thesauri and associate them to elements.
