Search & Discovery

The CentricMinds Enterprise Web Content Management System (WCMS) leverages a number of Open Source components including Apache Lucene. The Apache Lucene search is a high-performance, fully featured text search engine that has been integrated with the CentricMinds CMS to provide site indexing and public site searching, as well as searching for content by authors within the dedicated content repositories.

Searching within content repositories provides authors with the ability to filter their searches based on archiving, file type, author and date range.

Authors can also employ metadata filtering to build search queries based on metadata.

Search and discovery includes:

  • Search for a particular phrase ‘The latest report on green apples’
  • Wildcard searching
  • Administration for the removal of stop words and noise words
  • Highlight found search words and phrases within documents
  • HTML rendering of documents (MS Office, PDF, etc.)
  • Category browsing allowing users to browse files or pages by categories
  • Search on metadata fields, author, date created etc.
  • Relevance Ranking Scoring (25%, 18%, 7%, etc.)

A number of different types of searches can be configured in the system, each providing a different set of functionality and search scope.

The CentricMinds Enterprise Web Content Management System (WCMS) also filters the viewing of content returned within search results based on the permissions of the user. This can be done at a Role level down to an individual Author level. Security access also restricts viewing of content within a sitemap and/or through content searching.

Taxonomy Browser
The Taxonomy Browser allows authors to browse through content relationships based on metadata. It works using the same principles of a thesauri, however it allows authors of the site to browse related content hierarchies in a graphical fashion. The taxonomy browser allows users to browse sub-classes of a particular category or topic as well.

The following image depicts this process:

  • A user has performed a search for the term 'marketing'
  • The search has returned a result
  • The user clicks on the category hyperlink (Marketing) in the search result to view related content with this topic
  • They are presented with the following screen
  • The 'Marketing' category presents a list of hyperlinks to documents and pages which are related to this topic
  • However, it is also displaying other subcategories of 'Marketing' that are also related e.g. Collateral, Brands, Alliances etc.
